Mavericks vs Suns NBA Betting Odds

Okay BetUS sportsbook betting basketball fanatics, the NBA is back in action!

The Dallas Mavericks and revamped Phoenix Suns will both be going all-out to get a confidence-boosting victory when they square off on Wednesday. The Mavs enter their regular-season opener looking to build on their one-and-done playoff appearance from last season. For Phoenix, the Suns are looking to reach the postseason after pulling off the most surprising addition of the entire offseason.

Let’s look at the NBA lines!

Why Bet On Dallas

The Mavs went 43-32 last season behind superstar MVP candidate Luka Doncic to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2015-16. Dallas finished a stellar third in scoring by averaging 17.0 points per contest while finishing 16th in points allowed (112.1 ppg).

Doncic posted some MVP-like numbers by averaging 29.0 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game last season. Dallas reached the playoff where it fell to the LA Clippers 4-2 in the first round. Dallas drafted Arizona forward Josh Green with the 18th overall pick in the draft before selecting Stanford guard Tyrell Terry with the 31st overall pick.

Unfortunately, the Mavs didn’t do much to improve their roster in free agency with their biggest moves being the trade of Seth Curry for Philadelphia’s Josh Richardson and the re-signings of veteran point guard Trey Burke and veteran center Willie Cauley-Stein.

Why Bet On Phoenix

The Suns went 34-39 last season to finish third in the Pacific Division behind the Lakers and Clippers. More importantly, the Suns went a perfect 8-0 inside the bubble, although that fantastic finish didn’t help them get into the playoffs. Phoenix averaged 113.6 points per game last season (10th) while allowing 113.4 points per game defensively (20th).

Still, after acquiring veteran point guard Chris Paul via a trade with Oklahoma City, the Suns have the look and feel of a team ready to challenge for their first playoff berth since 2009-10. Phoenix also added veteran forwards Jae Crowder and veteran guards Langston Galloway and E’Twaun Moore in free agency while adding veteran Abdel Nader in the trade that landed them CP3.

Expert Analysis and Prediction

Dallas has gone 2-1 this preseason while recording consecutive wins against Milwaukee and losing to Minnesota 129-127 on Thursday. Phoenix has lost all four of the scrimmage games. Still, I like the Suns to take care of business at home in their regular-season opener while delivering a message to Dallas that they are a legitimate playoff contender.

Dallas has gone 2-6 ATS in its last eight games and 2-7 ATS in its last nine road games. On the flip side of the coin, Phoenix has gone 6-0 ATS in their last six home games, 10-1 ATS in its last 11 games overall, and 5-1 ATS in its last six as an underdog.

Phoenix is 6-1 ATS in their last seven home dates against Dallas and a blistering 19-7 ATS in their last 26 meetings against the Mavs overall. I like the Suns to bring home the bacon in a matchup that looks like a high-scoring affair just waiting to happen!

Pick: Suns 112 Mavericks 108
