Spurs vs Mavericks Headline NBA Picks
The San Antonio Spurs have something very special in Victor Wembanyama, and the rookie star has a great matchup on Wednesday night against a relatively short-handed Dallas Mavericks squad. Wemby made history on Monday in Toronto when he set a career high with 10 blocks and became the fourth rookie to complete a triple-double with swatted shots. San Antonio’s David Robinson was the last to do it in 1990. NBA odds have Dallas as overwhelming favorites.

As a result, the Spurs snapped a seven-game losing streak by blowing out the Toronto Raptors 122-99 on the road. The Spurs continue their road trip on Wednesday, but will they find similar success against their in-state rivals? And what does that mean for our NBA betting picks?
If the NBA lines or any indication, the Spurs are in trouble. The Mavericks are hefty -11 favorites, with the sportsbook giving San Antonio and the potential Rookie of the Year zero love.

Spurs vs Mavericks ATS Pick: Spurs -11
I’m taking the Spurs here, not because I’m delusional enough to think they are a good team, but because they are a bad team getting better. Unlike the Detroit Pistons, a bad team who just keeps getting worse, the Spurs have a lot to be excited about in the future, and they are playing like it.
On the flip side, the Mavericks have not been a very good home team and are just 12-17 against the NBA spread at the American Airlines Center.
Looking at Wednesday’s betting lines for NBA action, this game jumped out at me as the best value of the night. While the Spurs still have a lot to work on, the Las Vegas betting lines for this game are too high, and I’m happy to trust an improving young team to keep their momentum going.
Spurs vs Mavericks Player Prop Pick: Victor Wembanyama 4+ Blocked Shots (+120)
I don’t feel like I really have to explain this NBA pick too much. Wemby is an amazing talent and is already one of the most fearsome defenders in the Association. I mean, 10 blocked shots? He’s averaging right around where tonight’s prop sits, and with the Mavericks undersized for an NBA team, I like Wemby’s chances to get 4+ blocks again.
I would have set this NBA prop pick higher, but the prop builder maxed out at 4+ for this game.
