Bellator 282 Prelim Picks
Before the Bellator king, Gegard Mousasi, defends his throne, there is a loaded Bellator 282 prelims. The Bellator odds features plenty of prospects and veterans at short lines making this one a rich event for those looking to stack chalk on parlays.
- Date: Friday, 6 p.m. ET
- Venue: Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT
- Bellator 282 Live Stream: Bellator Live
Dan Moret (-145) vs Killys Mota (+115)
- Round Totals: Over 2½ (-160), Under 2½ (+130)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Lightweight (155 lbs) (3 Rounds)
The action is going to the underdog, Mota (12-3-0), for good reason. He’s younger and the better grappler than Moret (15-7-0). While Moret is the scrappy kind of fighter, “skills pay the bills” and that’s why Mota wins.
Pick: Killys Mota (+115)
Lucas Brennan (-550) vs Johnny Soto (+375)
- Round Totals: Over 1½ (+125), Under 1½ (-155)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Featherweight (145 lbs) (3 Rounds)
Brennan (6-0-0) is one of a few prized prospects here being fed a beatable guy like Soto (4-2-0). While Soto is a durable guy, he is outclassed in the grappling area and Brennan should lock in one of his slick subs early in the fight.
Pick: Under 1½ (-155)
Brent Primus (+175) vs Alexander Shabliy (-220)
- Round Totals: Over 2½ (-240), Under 2½ (+190)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Lightweight (155 lbs) (3 Rounds)
Shabliy (21-3-0) can book a title shot in the near future with a resounding win over former champion Primus (11-2-0). He should be able to stuff Primus’s takedown attempts and outstrike him on the feet. But if it does go to the mat, he has the grappling to handle Primus.
Pick: Alexander Shabliy (-220)
Cat Zingano (-280) vs Pam Sorenson (+210)
- Round Totals: Over 2½ (-260), Under 2½ (+200)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Women’s Featherweight (145 lbs) (3 Rounds)
In what could be a title eliminator, bet online on Zingano (12-4-0) to beat Sorenson (9-4-0) with little to no issues. Zingano is the faster, stronger and bigger fighter here. She’s also fought better-level competition and if she’s mentally here, she should roll.
Pick: Cat Zingano (-280)
Anatoly Tokov (-800) vs Muhammad Abdullah (+500)
- Round Totals: Over 1½ (-110), Under 1½ (-120)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Middleweight (185 lbs) (3 Rounds)
Tokov (30-3-0) and Abdullah (11-5-0) is a lopsided “grappler versus striker” affair, which benefits the Russian as the online sports betting odds allude. He should be able to take down the inactive boxer and finish him shortly.
Pick: Under 1½ (-120)
💪 Never count this Russian 🇷🇺 out of the fight!
Anatoly Tokov came through with one of the greatest comeback wins in MMA history at #Bellator218.

Sabah Homasi (-160) vs Maycon Mendonca (+130)
- Round Totals: Over 2½ (-105), Under 2½ (-125)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Welterweight (170 lbs) (3 Rounds)
Don’t blink when Homasi (16-10-0) throws down with Mendonca (11-5-0) as the two will go for a finish. Homasi, one of six American Top Team fighters on the card, is an action fighter to a fault. He usually finishes his opponent or gets finished trying.
Pick: Under 2½ (-125)
Alejandra Lara (-210) vs Ilara Joanne (+165)
- Round Totals: Over 2½ (-240), Under 2½ (+190)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Women’s Flyweight (125 lbs) (3 Rounds)
We begrudgingly side with Lara (9-5-0) over Joanne (9-6-0), though we’d stay away from this one on the betting lines. These middling flyweights can’t be trusted and are too inconsistent. The totals are also too juiced to the over.
Pick: Alejandra Lara (-210)
Cody Law (-800) vs James Gonzalez (+500)
- Round Totals: Over 1½ (-130), Under 1½ (Ev)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Featherweight (145 lbs) (3 Rounds)
Bellator is feeding Law (6-0-0) in what should be an easy fight for him. Gonzalez (8-5-0) is in Bellator to make guys like Law look good. The unbeaten prospect should finish Gonzalez within 7½ minutes.
Pick: Under 1½ (-105)
Aaron Jeffery (-165) vs Fabio Aguiar (+135)
- Round Totals: Over 2½ (-210), Under 2½ (+165)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Middleweight (185 lbs) (3 Rounds)
This could be the best fight for the event if Aguiar (18-2-0) has his way. The Brazilian hits hard and has a grappling edge, though Jeffery (11-3-0) is a bit faster and more technical. Jeffery could pick apart Aguiar but it will be close.
Pick: Aaron Jeffery (-165)
Bryce Logan (+175) vs Mandel Nallo (-220)
- Round Totals: Over 2½ (-105), Under 2½ (-125)
- Weight Class (Rounds): Lightweight (155 lbs) (3 Rounds)
Nallo (8-2-0) should be able to take out Logan (12-6-0) from range. The Canadian is much longer than Logan – a five-inch reach advantage – and should be able to finish Logan when he predictably shoots for a takedown.
Pick: Mandel Nallo (-220)
