OBJ is Signing a 1-Year Deal, $8.25 M Deal With the Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins Are Signing Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr to a 1-Year Deal

Super Bowl Contenders?

The last thing the Miami Dolphins needed was more wide receiver talent but that’s stopping them from stacking the deck. There have been some NFL rumors for months about Odell Beckham Jr. joining the Dolphins and it’s finally happening. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report the NFL news that OBJ is signing a contract with Miami.

Adding Experience to the Roster

The Louisiana native is finally returning to the South for the first time in his NFL career. OBJ was once one of the best wide receivers in the NFL for some time but has missed a lot of NFL games due to injury. He played for the Baltimore Ravens last season but Odell Beckham Jr.’s stats weren’t great. He only had 35 catches for 565 yards.

Luckily, the Dolphins already have two great wide receivers in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle so they don’t need much from the former star.

What Signing OBJ Means for Dolphins?

Miami is doubling down on offense under head coach Mike McDaniel. The Dolphins had a top-two offense last season and should be even better this year. OBJ’s addition likely won’t have any impact on Tyreek Hill’s stats but could boost Tua Tagovailoa’s stats.

The quarterback is due for a contract extension and a big 2024 season would certainly help him get the back. That said, OBJ might be one of the most overrated players in the NFL at this point in his career. He’s often injured and hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season since 2019.

There’s no denying that he was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL but at this point, he’s a solid No. 3 wide receiver. He’ll be a solid addition for Miami and isn’t going to cost a lot but he’s not a major impact player like he used to be.
