Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET on FOX
Underdog Betting Vitals
Moneyline: Lions +145
Point Spread: Lions +3 (-105)

Both the Detroit Lions (4-7) and the Chicago Bears (5-6) are on the outside looking in, regarding the postseason picture. It’s doubtful that either team will make it to the playoffs, but the Lions are in a position to deal a fatal blow to the Bears in Soldier Field. Chicago’s currently one game out of the wild card, but has lost five straight games after starting the season 5-1.

The Bears were blown out 41-25 in their most recent game, falling to the Packers in Green Bay. In addition to Chicago’s five-game slide, it is 1-6 ATS over its previous seven games. The error-prone Mitchell Trubisky is starting again at quarterback vs Detroit, and Chicago’s running game ranks dead last in the NFL.

The Detroit Lions lost by the exact same 41-25 score to the Texans on Thanksgiving, and are losers of four-out-of-five. However, Detroit’s course is changing trajectory and there is a silver and blue lining. The Lions have finally fired head coach Matt Patricia, hiring Darrell Bevell as interim head coach.

Detroit is no doubt thankful to turn the page on this ugly season and has a clean slate vs Chicago. For as bad as the Lions have been, the Bears are worse. Detroit has a new lease on life post-Patricia and will avenge the heartbreaking loss suffered against Chicago in Week 1. Look for Lions’ QB Matthew Stafford and RB Adrian Peterson to go off vs the Bears’ eighth-ranked defense.

Prediction: Lions 27, Bears 24

Washington Football Team at Pittsburgh Steelers

Monday, 5 p.m. ET on FOX
Underdog Betting Vitals
Moneyline: WFT +270
Point Spread: WFT +7 (-115)

The Washington Football Team has won consecutive contests and is much better than their 4-7 record indicates. Washington has improved dramatically over the course of the season, and I believe they’ll knock Pittsburgh off its undefeated pedestal. Over their previous six games, the WFT have won three, while losing the other three games by a combined total of seven points.

On Thanksgiving, the Football Team blew out the Cowboys in their own building 41-16 to earn the season sweep. This team has something to prove, and they’re ready to strut their stuff on prime time behind QB Alex Smith. Pittsburgh looked shaky and discombobulated in a 19-14 win against Baltimore on Wednesday, and are ripe to be ambushed here.

The Steelers have been stung by the injury bug and are playing the Football Team on a short week. In fact, Pittsburgh’s in the process of playing three games in 12 days, with what amounts to a skeleton crew. The WFT has an excellent opportunity to parlay its positive momentum into a huge victory over the undefeated Steelers.

Washington rookie RB Antonio Gibson shredded Dallas for 115 yards and three touchdowns last week, catching five passes as well. Gibson has 6 TDs over his previous three games and has 11 rushing scores this season. The dynamic rookie will dent and ding his way through the depleted version of the 2020 Steel Curtain on Monday.

The WFT is still very much alive in the NFC East race. Washington has the talent and is in a perfect position to slay a giant in Pittsburgh. A $50 bet on the healthy +270 WFT moneyline will make you $135 richer when it hits.

Prediction: Football Team 27, Steelers 21
