NBA Season Specials Odds & Lines

What are NBA Season Specials?

The basic options for sports betting tend to revolve around a game, a team’s season, or a possible award players can win. Most people tend to place bets on many of these for NBA picks, but BetUS provides some options outside the norm.

That is where NBA season special props come into play. They tend to be unusual prop bets outside of the basic team wins over-under or if this player will win MVP. It offers an expanded option for bettors when creating parlays that could feature props outside the usual mold.

A simple example could be what team this player could be on next season. If there are a lot of trade rumors circling individual players, or they are in free agency, an NBA season special prop would allow anyone to bet on what that player’s next team might be.

How Do the NBA Season Specials Props Odds Work?

NBA season special prop odds tend to work similarly to many other future bets. The main difference is that what you are betting on tends to be a little more specific. For example, at the moment, BetUS has an NBA season special prop for what team Trae Young may be on next, if not the Atlanta Hawks.

The odds are then created around possible rumors, team fit, and what franchise has the capital to acquire Young. The Miami Heat are the favorites, with odds at +200. Based on the odds, rumors, and knowledge, you can make your own NBA prediction, then bet on what team Young may be on

NBA Betting Strategy

Since NBA season special prop odds can be anything affiliated with basketball, it does make it hard to come up with a clear strategy. However, the key is to regularly pay attention to rumors around the NBA and social media because they can often leave clues.

That is why trusting NBA expert picks can be challenging for this kind of bet because a lot can happen. To use the Young example again, the Heat is an interesting choice to be listed as the favorite.

The Heat have built a culture of playing hard, which does not precisely match Young’s play style, especially on defense. On top of that, in the 2021 playoffs, the Heat swept the Hawks, specifically going after Young and exposing his weaknesses. The Heat might be the favorite but don’t seem like they would have much interest in acquiring Young if he became available.

Prop Bets

Betting on NBA season specials are prop bets. They have nothing to do with a single game and focus on exciting bets based on possibilities.

HOW TO BET ON NBA SEASON SPECIALS

Parlaying Futures With NBA Season Special Prop

While not exclusively, most NBA season special props tend to be about a coach or player joining a new team. The odds on Young remain a perfect example of that once again. While he has not requested a trade, rumors exist about the Hawks’ front office wanting to move him.

Atlanta has undergone an organizational overhaul, promoting a new person in charge of basketball operations and a head coaching change during the 2022-23 season. All these moves point to the Hawks not being happy with how the team has functioned the last few seasons and possibly wanting to start over.

The next likely step would be for the Hawks to trade one of their more valuable players for a bunch of assets while cutting cap space.

If the Hawks did decide to trade away Young, many other more common prop bets could be affected. The Hawks’ win total would likely have a much better chance of hitting the under unless they received another All-Star player in return for Young.

On top of that, the team Young could be joining would likely see an increase in the number of wins they could have. He is one of the best scorers and playmakers in the league, in the top 15 in points and assists per game for the last few seasons.

Parlaying a team that Young might be traded to with other future bets around the Hawks and wherever he might be could be a solid strategy. An example would be if you bet that Young will be traded to the Heat, then parlay that with Miami hitting the over on next season’s win total and winning the Southeast Division.

Keep In Mind Realistic NBA Plans

The NBA is often filled with rumors, and most of the time, they are not real. Sports media often tries to find a lane of news that usually does not seem realistic. Those could affect NBA season special props or create lines that don’t make sense.

That is why being plugged into NBA news and trying to understand how some organizations work and what their motives might be. In the NBA, teams do not like to be in the middle, either trying to become contenders or hoping for the best draft lottery odds and getting the next young rising star. Often, NBA front offices will do whatever it takes to be in one of those two categories.

Thinking about the motives of a team if they would like to rebuild or go all in on a championship can help with NBA season special props. While it seems unlikely the Hawks would want to trade Young because he is their best chance of being competitive, the team also has some cap space issues.

The Hawks front office could believe Young has taken them as far as they can go, an Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2020-21. They could look to start over and hope the next patch of talent will take them further.

However, they also understand how good of a player Young is, which means they might not trade him to a team in the East, let alone one in the same division, having to face him four times a season.
