What is an NFL Prop Bet, And How Do They Work?

NFL prop bets are wagers on specific events within a game, separate from the final outcome. Think of prop bets as mini-bets within the big game.

They focus on specific events, like how many interceptions a player will make, a team’s total three-pointers (if applicable in a crossover promotion), or even random occurrences during the game.

These can include:

  • Player Props: Over/under on a player’s passing yards, rushing yards, receptions, etc.
  • Team Props: Total team touchdowns, field goals, or other statistical categories.
  • Game Props: Whether there will be a safety, the total number of penalties, or even which team will score first.

When Do NFL Player Props Come Out?

NFL player props are usually released a few days before the match day when important matchups and players’ availability have been determined. BetUS constantly updates such prop markets in order to provide you with more opportunities to place wagers.

How to Bet on NFL Player Props?

To bet on NFL player props, browse our available markets, select your chosen player prop, and place your wager.

At BetUS, we provide a wide range of prop betting options to suit all types of bettors, from touchdowns to passing yards, making every game more exciting.

Why are NFL Prop Bets Popular?

The NFL prop bets keep growing in popularity for many reasons, but mainly due to one thing: Their diversity.

Unlike moneyline bets or over/unders (totals), props give bettors plenty of ways to profit on their favorite teams or players.

These props are side wagers you can bet on, ranging from player statistics to peculiar game outcomes.

Here are some of the most common NFL prop bets you can find from the BetUS sportsbook:

1. General Game Props

This is a mixed market of some of the most popular props; it includes bets on specific scenarios, such as which team scores 10 points first, an over/under bet on touchdowns or field goals, and whether overtime will occur.

2. Over/Under

Speaking of over/unders, these NFL betting props are similar to the general over/under (total) of team points but include player stats such as quarterback passing yards or wide receiver receptions.

3. Touchdowns

Arguably the most fun to bet on. These NFL props let you bet on which players will score a touchdown, or even two or three. An alternative is to bet on which player scores the first touchdown.

4. Player Doubles

these NFL prop bets are like mini-parlays where you bet on a player to achieve a certain stat (e.g., Aaron Jones gets 70+ rushing yards) plus their respective team to produce a result (e.g., Minnesota wins). Like any parlay, both conditions must be met to win the bet.

5. Specials

these are typically player props, extensions of the general game props; you can bet on which player records the longest reception, if a player will hit 150+ rushing yards, etc.

What is the Most Common Winning NFL Prop Bet?

It’s hard to pinpoint the most common winning football bet, but NFL prop bets have steadily gained popularity.

Their appeal lies in the lucrative odds many props offer, especially for bettors who can spot opportunities where the market provides an edge.

While these bets often require a sharper strategy and careful research, the potential rewards make them worthwhile.

At BetUS, we go beyond offering bets, we provide insights.

Our sportsbook features detailed articles on NFL props written by experts with years of experience in both football and betting.

These articles break down trends, stats, and strategies to help you make smarter decisions. Even if you don’t always agree with their picks, the information can be a valuable tool in shaping your betting strategy.

Props can also be more profitable than traditional moneyline or point-spread wagers. However, they demand more diligence and focus.

Success with prop betting often involves analyzing specific matchups, player tendencies, and situational factors that can influence outcomes.

By taking the time to research and leverage expert advice, you can turn NFL prop betting into a reliable and rewarding betting avenue.

What NFL Team Gets Bet on the Most?

While BetUS offers NFL prop odds on all 32 teams, some get more action than others. The Dallas Cowboys, for instance, are “America’s Team” for a reason.

Dallas gets plenty of wagers from NFL props bettors and those who bet on NFL conference winner odds.

Most end up losing since Dallas is terrible. But on the flip side, you can bet against the Cowboys and make more money.

BetUS is Your Go-to for NFL Odds
