US Open Golf Odds & Lines

The Golf U.S. Open, short for the United States Open Championship, is one of the most prominent tournaments. In fact, it is among the four majors alongside The US Masters, PGA Championship and Open Championship. The Golf U.S. Open began in 1895 under the supervision of the United States Golf Association.

The event moved to 72 holes of play in 1898 and has stuck to the format. The Golf U.S. Open is also open to professionals and amateurs. Golfers must win certain tournaments to become eligible.

Several events have the same host every year. For example, The Masters always takes place at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The Golf  U.S. Open does not have a permanent host, switching venues almost every year. The Los Angeles Country Club will host the Golf U.S. Open in 2023, followed by Pinehurst Resort & C.C. in 2024.

Starting in 2019, the PGA Championship is annually played on the weekend before Memorial Day. This makes the Golf US Open the third major of the season. It is played in June with the final day of play usually falling on Father’s Day, which is the third Sunday of June.

How Do US Open Golf Odds Work?

U.S. Open Golf odds work like most golf tournaments. BetUS offers future bets with a wide variety of options to select the winner of the tournament. Since the event features 156 golfers, each player’s odds are quite high.

For example, Jon Rahm is the current favorite to win the Golf U.S. Open and his odds sit at +800. Of course, predicting the winner can lead to a nice payday, but picking the correct winner among 156 participants is easier said than done.

Prop/special bets are also offered for the Golf U.S. Open. Instead of predicting the winner, this typically focuses on an event taking place. Bettors can predict if there will be a hole-in-one, albatross, playoff or wire-to-wire winner. The list goes on.

Another option is picking the over/under for how many golfers will finish under par. Prop bets can be easier in large golf tournaments. The odds are also shorter, which decreases potential winnings.

It is also important to know how U.S. Open Golf odds work. For Rahm at +800, a $100 bet would yield $800 in profit. The lower the number, the more the player is favored. For example, Rahm (+800) is given a better chance to win than Tigers Woods at +6500.

Future bets for golf Odds exclusively feature positive odds. There are far too many players in events to give one participant negative odds.

For props, you will see negative and positive odds. An albatross prop will offer a YES/NO choice. No could be -1000 with Yes at +2000. For the -1000, a $1,000 bet is required for a $100 profit.

Various betting strategies can be used for Golf U.S. Open future or prop bets. We can research which golfers have a good history with the tournament. Following the PGA Tour and knowing which golfers are hot is another big help.

Popular US Open Golf Bets

Futures are usually the most popular bet for major tournaments. Predicting who wins the Golf U.S. Open is a simple bet that can yield good profit. For most sport bets, futures are among the most popular wagers.

Some avoid golf futures Odds, as predicting one winner in a field with over 100 participants is difficult. Prop bets can be a more intriguing option with a higher likelihood of winning. For props, hole-in-ones and wire-to-wire winners are quite popular.

Hole-in-ones occur often. In fact, about 30 to 35 hole-in-ones occur every season. Hitting this bet is not a stretch. Predicting a wire-to-wire winner is far more unlikely. The Golf U.S. Open has had seven wire-to-wire winners. Martin Kaymer was the most recent in 2014.

Golf US Open Important Players

According to Golf U.S. Open lines, Rahm, McIlory and Scottie Scheffler are the three favorites for the 2023 tournament. Rahm is in first for the PGA Money List and FedExCup rankings with four wins and eight top-10 finishes. Scheffler has two wins and eight top-10 finishes. He is also in second place in the FedExCup rankings. After winning the PGA Tour last season, McIlroy is off to a slow start with one win and three top-10 finishes.

Koepka has the most success among active players at the Golf U.S. Open with wins in 2017 and 2018. McIlroy won it in 2011, Rahm was the victor in 2021 and Matt Fitzpatrick came out on top in 2022.

HOW TO BET ON THE GOLF US OPEN

Developing betting strategies can be a huge help in aiding your chances to win big. Every event has its own unique challenges, meaning each golf tournament should have its own strategies. Looking at each golfer’s history with a tournament can be helpful. For example, Brooks Koepka won the Golf U.S. Open in 2017 and 2018.

Following the PGA Tour is a big key. Knowing which golfers are playing poorly or well should have a major influence on bets, especially for futures. Players atop the PGA Money List and FedExCup rankings are usually among the favorites for major tournaments. They have consistently performed well with top-10 finishes and tournament wins. Rahm and Scottie Scheffler hold the first and second spots in the FedExCup rankings by a wide margin.

For the Golf U.S. Open, how golfers are trending should hold more influence than their history with the tournament. Of course, this varies with each event. The Masters always takes place at the same course, so if a player is consistent there, that is a reliable bet. Along with the PGA Championship, the Golf U.S. Open consistently changes sites. Since 2010, Pebble Beach Golf Links in California is the only course to host the Golf U.S. Open twice.

The weather is another factor for U.S. Open Golf betting. For example, windy weather is something to consider. Players from the United Kingdom are known for playing well in the wind. If the Golf U.S. Open will feature strong winds, players like Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood could become enticing options.
