UEFA Nations League Betting Odds and Lines

A Bit of History

The first edition of the UEFA Nations League, which is an official but friendly tournament, began in September 2018. On the other hand, the four group winners from League A collided in the finals in June 2019. Portugal ended up winning the title at home after defeating Netherlands 1-0 in the championship game.

Portugal failed to reach the finals in the second edition, played between 2020-21. France ended up winning the title after beating Spain 2-1 in the Grand Finale played at San Siro, Milan. Les Bleus won the tournament without losing a single game.

Curiously, France also failed to reach the finals after winning the title. In other words, including the reigning champions in your UEFA Nations League Outright Picks may not be a good idea. Spain managed to win the 2022-23 edition after a good fight against Croatia in the final. The match finished with a goalless draw, but La Roja won the penalty shootout 5-4.

The UNL is a biennial tournament, which means that the next Final Four won’t be held until 2025. Finally, keep in mind that the leagues are based in UEFA’s coefficient.

How the Tournament Works

First, it’s important to understand that the UEFA Nations League came to replace international friendly matches with no meaning. Second, the UNL is a competition in which a total of 55 teams are involved. However, only the teams in League A advance to knockout stages and can win the title.

That’s right, in order to have a chance of winning the title, you must play in League A. In total, there are four leagues: A, B, C and D. League A, B and C include 16 teams, divided into four groups, while League D includes seven teams, divided into two groups. Each team faces the other twice, one at home, one on the road.

The winner of each group in League A advances to the Final Four, while the teams that finish last are relegated to League B. In all other leagues, the winner of each group is promoted to the next higher league, while last places are relegated.

The winner of the UNL obtains a juicy money prize, but that’s not all. Winning the UNL also has repercussions in the World Cup qualifiers since the UNL champions, aka Spain, will play in a five-team group, not six as usual.

The UNL is also linked to the European Championship, giving teams another opportunity to be in Europe’s grandest stage. There are playoffs for League A, B and C. If each group winner is already one of the 20 qualified teams for the EURO, rankings are used to give that spot to teams of the next lower league. Four more teams qualify for the EURO through the UNL.

How to Bet on UEFA Nations League Odds and Lines

Like any other tournament, you can start making your UEFA Nations League Predictions before it begins. That’s what the UEFA Nations League Outrights are about, choosing which team is going to win the title.

As mentioned before, only teams from League A have the chance to win the UNL title. Therefore, make sure that you’re betting on a team that plays in League A. That doesn’t mean you can’t bet on the lower leagues since you can choose which teams are going to win each group, which teams are going to be relegated, and more.

That being mentioned, it’s important to keep track of the UEFA Nations League Outrights News, recent results, injury reports and coaching staff changes.

We also offer prop bets, which gives you different options to place a bet on. For example, you can wager on the yellow cards and corners total, which team will score first, or which player will score at any time, to name a few.
