Stanley Cup Specials Betting Odds and Lines

The Stanley Cup Specials are a futures bet predicting which conference and division the Stanley Cup winner will come from. It is a long-term bet and another option for bettors to wager on the NHL.

How do the Stanley Cup Specials work?

There are two futures bets when it comes to the Stanley Cup specials. Bettors can predict from which conference and which division the Stanley Cup Champion will originate from.

Betting Strategy

There are a few strategies one can use when betting on Stanley Cup Specials to get the most out of their wager.

The first thing a bettor should know is what teams are in which conference and division since that will determine what they will be making their prediction on.

Doing research on teams who had an extended run in last season’s playoffs is also beneficial. Those are the teams who are likely to continue to have sustained success and are likely to make a run at the Cup once again this year. Looking at what kind of changes each team made to get better and improve their chances can help inform a bettor’s decision.

It is also helpful to know a team’s injuries. If an important player is expected to miss a prolonged period of time, a team may have trouble reaching the playoffs without them.

Finally, knowing the schedule of some of the favored teams can also be beneficial. A team that has a lighter schedule to close the regular season may go farther in the playoffs than one that faces top competition to finish their season due to fatigue.

Prop Bets

Although there are many options for prop betting on the NHL, there are none for Stanley Cup specials due to it being a futures bet.

How to bet on the Stanley Cup Specials

There are two options for betting on Stanley Cup Specials: the winning conference and winning division.

Both are futures bets and involve making a long-term bet on predicting which conference and division the Stanley Cup champion will come from, respectively.

Futures bets can have both positive and negative odds. However, since there are more than two divisions in the NHL, the winning division odds are all represented by positive odds, with the lower the positive number indicating the greater the favorite.

For example, the Atlantic Division is favored to have the Stanley Cup Champion at +225 odds while the Central Division is tied for the third-best odds at +300 odds. A $100 bet on the Atlantic Division would win $225. The same bet would win $300 on the Central winning.

Futures bets can also be represented by negative odds, with the higher the negative number indicating a greater favorite.

In the case of the winning conference, the Eastern Conference has -130 odds to have the Stanley Cup Champion. A bettor would have to place a $130 bet to win $100 if the Stanley Cup champion were to be from the Eastern Conference.
