NFL Preseason Week 3 Odds and Lines | Spreads, Totals and Props

TL;DR: The first two weeks of NFL Preseason action are in the books. Preseason Week 3 marks the final week before the NFL Regular Season kicks off.

How to Bet NFL Preseason Week 3

Welcome to what many pro bettors consider the sweet spot of the NFL preseason. Unlike the first two weeks of vanilla game plans, Week 3 is the final “dress rehearsal” for the regular season. This is where you gain a significant analytical advantage if you know what to look for. Casual bettors will wager on the team name; sharp bettors wager on the coach’s plan for the night.

The “Dress Rehearsal” Factor: What to Look For

The single most important question is: how long are the starters in? Follow team news and local beat writers throughout the week. A coach who announces his first-team offense will play the entire first half is sending a clear signal. Conversely, a team dealing with injuries or one that feels confident in its starters might rest them entirely. The latter team is not playing to win the game; they are evaluating depth. That discrepancy is where you find value. Look at the 1st half NFL odds as they can be a direct reflection of a team’s first-half game plan.

Beyond the Spread: Unlocking Value in Props & Totals

Don’t get tunnel vision on the spread and moneyline. The real value is often buried in the props and totals. Is a team with a ferocious starting defensive line playing its starters for a half against a backup offensive line? Consider the 1st Half Under for the opposing team. Do you have two teams with deep quarterback rooms and aggressive offensive coordinators? The Full Game Over might be in play, even after the starters sit. Explore the Game Props for each matchup to find bets that align with coaching tendencies rather than just the final score.

Why Bet on the NFL Preseason?

Forget the big names. Preseason isnโ€™t about Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes. Itโ€™s about the third-string QB fighting for a job. It’s about the undrafted rookie trying to make the team. Their motivation is your betting edge. Coaches use these games to evaluate talent, not just to win. This creates predictable patterns: find a coach who loves to win exhibitions; target teams with deep QB rooms. Thatโ€™s where you find the real value in NFL exhibition game spreads.

How To Bet: Moneylines, Spreads, Props, and More

Itโ€™s simpler than you think. Here’s your game plan.

  • NFL Moneyline: Easy. Just pick the winner. Find a motivated underdog for a big payout.
  • NFL Point Spread: This is the great equalizer. The favorite has to win by a certain number of points. The underdog just has to keep it close. This is the heart of preseason Week 1 betting lines.
  • NFL Props & Futures: Bet on specific events. Will a rookie throw an interception? How many yards will the backup QB throw for? This is where deep knowledge pays off. Hunt for value in these specific football futures markets before the regular season begins. Our preseason betting tips give you the inside track.

NFL Preseason Week 2 FAQs

Absolutely, but it requires a different approach than the regular season. Profitability in the preseason comes from research on coaching strategy, player rotations, and situational factors, not just team talent. Because oddsmakers have less data and public betting is often misguided, sharp bettors can find significant value..

Week 2 typically sees the most playing time for starters. A common template is for the first-team offense and defense to play for the entire first quarter and sometimes into the second, often for one to three series. However, this varies dramatically by coach. Always check team reports before placing a wager, as some coaches may opt to rest key players entirely.
