NHL Draft Props Betting Odds & Lines

What are the NHL Draft Props?

The National Hockey League (NHL) is one of the world’s biggest and most-watched hockey tournaments and features teams from North America, mainly the U.S. and Canada.

In the NHL Draft, held before every NHL season, NHL teams can make trades and transfers between players. Betting on NHL odds in the Draft is very popular, as well.

As with all other major sporting events, sportsbooks have found ways for bettors to wager on NHL Drafts, aside from just NHL Vegas odds.

This comes mainly from props bets, which are offered for the NHL Draft by most major sportsbooks, including BetUS. NHL Draft props may contain lines such as “Will Shane Wright be the first pick?” or “Will there be a trade between the Canadiens and Tampa Bay?”

How do NHL Draft Props work?

NHL Draft props work the same way as traditional proposition bets. A prop bet is a wager placed on the occurrence or non-occurrence of a specific event throughout a sports event.

In contrast to point spreads, totals, and straight-up bets, these events will not impact the game’s result or the score that is ultimately tallied.

Because they might pertain to either an individual player or an entire team’s achievements, props are categorized as “novelty bets.”

These milestones include the number of catches that a wide receiver will have in the NFL, the number of total goals scored in hockey, the number of strikes that a pitcher will throw in the MLB, and the number of rebounds that a center will grab in the NBA.

BetUS Offer

Simply by signing up for an account with BetUS, new customers have the opportunity to win free play worth thousands of dollars. This is one of the rare situations in which a deal does not seem to be too good to be true from the very beginning.

When you sign up for an account with BetUS and make your first deposit, the betting platform will match a certain percentage of your initial deposit with free money to assist you in getting started.

The bonus amount will change depending on whether the initial investment was made using fiat or a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin. If fiat is the case, the sportsbook will give you a massive bonus of 125% of your first deposit.

This deal is only good for a maximum of $2,500 in free play. Most of BetUS’s competitors limit their bonuses to less than or equal to $1,000; therefore, the fact that BetUS offers incentives worth up to 2.5 times as much is a significant edge over them.

The bonus is increased to a jaw-dropping 150% if the first deposit is made using bitcoin. However, this is not the end of the story. You may get up to $7,500 in free money to place NHL odds. This may be the most profitable incentive offered by licensed betting operators.

Prop Bets

Bets that are not directly connected to the outcome of a game or the overall performance of a team throughout an entire season or an individual game are referred to as prop bets.

A proposition bet is most likely being placed if the wager does not include a point spread, total, moneyline, or future.

Most of today’s sports enthusiasts are interested in betting on a wider variety of outcomes than merely the next game’s result.

They want to place wagers on their favorite players, teams, and the events that will take place in the first quarter of a football game or even the game’s first drive.

Props often ask questions of the yes/no type. These include “Team A to score first” or “Team B to score the most goals.”

As a result of the expansion of the market for props, various subcategories of props have evolved, each of which shares some qualities but also demonstrates major differences.

Unfortunately, when it comes to props offered for the NHL and similar drafts, they are limited only by the imagination of sportsbook operators or bookmakers.

Betting Strategy

The best course of action is to develop your prop betting strategy. It’s one thing to observe how others behave, but don’t let them lead you in every decision.

You might as well start over as you’ll need to make a few adjustments here and there when viewing NHL odds.

What are the most crucial aspects of sports or even props betting that you should pay attention to? We’ll start with the pre-betting system as it is so important overall.

Study Statistics

Make that you have the appropriate numbers. Rechecking the numbers will ensure that your match decision is accurate. Research is half the job.

No matter what sort of prop bets you want to place, it is essential to be knowledgeable about all pertinent information. Half-baked bets cannot be expected to win routinely.

Open a spreadsheet and carry out your instructions there, especially if you’re looking for highly anticipated competitions like the NHL Draft props or the first games of the NHL.

Avoid Betting On Vague Phrases

Some bookmakers tend to be hazy about their prop betting options. For instance, you may view the wager as follows: Cale Makar, Will he have an assist? YES/NO.

Some bookmakers may cross out your bet if you choose “yes,” and the wizard crafts two assists since “an assist” only denotes one assist, not two.

Always remember that vague statements work to the bookmaker’s advantage when vague statements aren’t given.

So select just those prop bets that are transparent and are constants! The only way to ensure you will get your payout is assuming you win.

Avoid Using Luck-Based Props

Some props depend on luck. Here, we’re talking about legitimately chance-based props, like transfers and trades of players that have never been rumored or reported by reliable journalists. This only calls for good luck and minimal knowledge.

Your prop betting strategy should be built on props you can examine using easily accessible metrics if you’re serious about it. These are the most important things to think about in the process of placing an online prop bet.

Avoid making large investments in prop betting.

Even while it may appear as if advice for prop betting is all rainbows and butterflies, it doesn’t mean you should limit yourself to prop betting. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket; spread out your bets.

It’s not a good idea to invest excessively in prop betting. Instead, keep yourself occupied with traditional bets. Nothing will be accomplished by forcing props.

Bookmakers will probably restrict your stakes if you win too many consecutive bets. So they could limit your prop betting activity or exclude you from the category. This is just something to be aware of.

You may place bets in addition to the conventional full-game odds by placing a prop bet, enabling you to bet on multiple parts of a game or event. The first time sportsbooks offered such proposition bets was for Super Bowl XX in 1986.

At that time, Las Vegas oddsmakers were taking wagers on whether or not William “The Refrigerator” Perry, a famous defensive tackle-turned-short yardage running back for the Chicago Bears, would score a touchdown.

The one-of-a-kind character and high excitement offered by those alternative markets led to their meteoric rise to prominence. Prop bets eventually became an essential component of Super Bowl betting.

This demand gradually extended beyond the big game. Today, because of the proliferation of internet sportsbooks, many prop markets are available for matchups in almost every sport and for NHL lines and Stanley Cup odds.

Prop bets used to be considered “sucker bets,” but with the rise of fantasy sports and developments in analytics, prop betting on NHL lines has been generating an increased handle year after year.

As a result, it is now a market that many skilled and professional sports bettors turn to for volatility and value in their wagers. Prop bets may take on a wide variety of forms; however, the following are some of the more prevalent types that players can find at sportsbooks:

Game props

The actions and occurrences during a game will determine the game props. These proposition odds may be based on spreads or handicaps, moneylines, over/under (totals), or even a yes/no structure for wagering.

The evaluation of game props may be done based on the whole game, or it can be segmented into derivatives such as innings, halves, or periods, depending on the sport (periods for NHL). Some examples of game props include the following:

  • The first team to reach 4 goals
  • Will there be a goal in the first five minutes of the match?
  • How many assists will Team A have in the first period?

Team Props

The performance of each team is the only factor considered for determining team props. The most common forms for these types of bets including over/under (totals), moneylines, and yes/no wagers. Some examples of team props include the following:

  • Total number of goals made: Over/Under
  • Will one team be able to win each of the three periods?
  • Total points scored by Team A in the second period

Props for the players

A player’s individual performance in a competition or game determines the number of a player’s rewards. On these, wagers may be placed using moneylines, spreads, totals that go Over or Under, or yes/no propositions.

These might concentrate on certain players or pit two or more players against one another in a head-to-head competition. Some examples of player props include the following:

  • The player who scores the first goal
  • Will one of the players score a hat trick?
  • Over/Under total saves for the goalie

NHL Draft Props Faqs

NHL prop bets are siding wagers made separate from a game’s event or occurrence that has no bearing on the game’s result. Depending on how inventive your online sportsbook is in developing these bets, they may be anything. Speculating which player will be the first pick is an excellent example of an NHL Draft prop bet.
BetUS is an authorized and legitimate bookmaker that operates throughout the U.S. It has extremely reasonable odds, a fantastic UI, and a very functioning mobile betting application for both the iOS and Android operating systems.

In addition to that, it provides a respectable selection of betting options and lines for those who wager on props. Therefore, when it comes to betting on NHL Draft Props, BetUS is a choice that is both highly well-rounded and quite excellent overall.

In principle, at least, wagering on the outcomes of the NHL Draft props is analogous to wagering on the outcomes of sporting events. You are required to deal with sportsbooks, NHL lines, odds, payouts, and other instances of the same kind of content.

However, the skill set that is ideally necessary to be a successful bettor on Draft props can be different from the skill set that is ideally required to be a good bettor on sports, with more importance on looking out for rumored trades and sales of players instead of conventional sporting knowledge.

The betting tactics that are most effective on NHL Draft Props might change depending on the specific wager being placed. You may better understand how to bet on these odds and what you need to keep in mind while betting by reading the section located above. Nevertheless, it would be advantageous to devise a tactic tailored specifically to your needs and capabilities.
This obviously depends on whether the sportsbook you choose permits you to place parlay bets on the NHL Props that you select. On the other hand, if it does, you have the option of adding as many different betting lines as you want to your bet slip. At some point, the slip will allow you to combine all of the bets into a single parlay and display the total payoff simultaneously.

Rolling If Bets (RIF) allow you to use the balance (amount) from existing wagers to make a new wager. As long as existing wagers have not been graded, the amount wagered can still be used to make new wagers. However, if your original wager loses, the Rolling If Bet is then cancelled. There are two options for ties (pushes); you can specify if you want the Rolling If Bet to continue in case of a tie or simply cancel the RIF.

Rolling If Bets are:
  • only allowed on straight bets, Parlays and Teasers.
  • not available with Free Plays or Futures and Props
  • only available if you have pre existing, non graded wagers
  • you can only use the funds from the amount of the pre existing wager
How to Place a Rolling If Bet:
  • Choose any straight, parlay or teaser and Place it on the Bet Slip
  • Click on the Rolling If Bet button next to the wager detail
  • In the RIF dropdown, choose a wager that you want to use for RIF
  • Click on "If Win Only" or "If Win or Push" (explained above)
  • Fill in the amount and confirm your wager (the system will not allow you a higher amount than what is available)
