New York Mets at New York Yankees Odds

Friday, Sept. 11 · 7:05[Time] EST · Yankee Stadium

What the Market Expects

Fascinating series in New York as the Mets and Yankees meet. The season has been long gone for the NL team, but it has been playing its best baseball since the trade deadline. If you bet on the MLB, the moneyline odds are Mets +120 and Yankees at -132. The total is 8, and the run line has the Mets at +1½ -185 with the Bronx Bombers at -1½ +160.

This does make the game a curious one. The Yankees are trying to catch the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. The Mets are making plans to go home come the end of September.

What the Team Totals Reveal

As bad as the Mets have been this year, they did manage to take two of three games from the Yankees in May at Citi Field. The Mets have been outscored by 40 runs while the Yankees have outscored opponents by 131.

Hard to get a gauge on what the May series means this late in the year. What is intriguing is that MLB lines have the Mets as a clear-cut underdog.

Mets starter Nolan McLean is believed to be the future for the team on the mound. He is 11-8 with a 3.09 ERA. He has allowed five earned runs over his last five starts, covering 31 innings. That’s an impressive number. Meanwhile, Yankees starter Carlos Rodon is 5-3 with a 3.09 ERA

When looking at the starters, expect McLean to be around longer than Rodan, who has only made it through five in two of his last five starts.

The game total of eight runs suggests it will be a competitive contest. The bats will have their moments because Yankee Stadium is a hitter’s park.

Reading the Total

The total number is 8, a tick higher than the low of 7 when it comes to the MLB norm that runs between that and 10. Don’t expect the Yankees to rattle McLean. He’s found his groove and should be tough to hit. Rodon needs to keep the Yankees in the game for as long as he is in the game.
H2: Pick
McLean has great stuff and should be able to baffle the Yankees. This game may be in the Bronx, but the Mets have the better pitcher.

  • Pick: New York Mets +120.
