The Yankees exited Toronto having struggled North of the Border. They head to Baltimore for a series that opens on Tuesday. Will Warren is scheduled to pitch. New York won his last start, which was against Seattle. Warren, however, gave up five runs in four innings. The Orioles seemed to be going in the right direction for a couple of years. This season has been a bust as they are last in the AL East, just behind Toronto. Pity poor Shane Baz.
The 27-year-old righty is 4-12 with a 4.00 ERA. Baltimore has not won a game in his last five starts. MLB odds should favor the road team in the opener. That said, before a bad outing against the Twins on Aug. 12, Baz had been decent, giving up only five runs in 18-plus innings over three starts. He was reached for nine hits and five runs in three innings by Minnesota. This one feels like a high-scoring affair.
