The NRL (National Rugby League) is one of the top rugby competitions in the world, featuring 17 teams from Australia and New Zealand. The leagueโs season runs from March to October, culminating in the NRL Grand Final.
Currently, we are in the NRL Finals Week 2. On the first week, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks beat the North Queensland Cowboys 26-16; while the Newcastle Knights defeated 20-10 the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Both of these winners advanced to the Week 2 semifinals against the Sydney Roosters and the New Zealand Warriors, who lost against the Penrith Panthers and the Dolphins, respectively.
Now, on Saturday 19th, we’ll have the Cronulla Sharks (+174) vs Sydney Roosters (-244) and on Sunday 20th, Newcastle Knights (+158) against the New Zealand Warriors (-208). These are the two games you have this weekends to bet on NRL.
The winners of these matchups will take on the Panthers and the Dolphins for a spot in the NRL Grand Final.
Types of NRL Bets at BetUS
- Moneyline: The most straightforward bet, where you simply wager on which team will win the match outright. This is ideal for bettors who want a clear-cut option without worrying about point spreads or totals.
- Example: Bet on Team A -150 (the favorite) or Team B +130 (the underdog). If Team A wins, you would need to wager $150 to win $100. For Team B, a $100 bet would win you $130.
- Point Spread: Also called “handicap betting,” this type evens the playing field by assigning a point differential between the teams. The favorite must win by more than the point spread, while the underdog can lose by fewer points or win outright.
- Example: Team A -5.5 vs Team B +5.5. If you bet on Team A, they must win by 6 points or more. If you bet on Team B, they can either win or lose by 5 points or fewer for your bet to win.
- Over/Under (Total Points): In this bet, you wager on whether the total number of points scored by both teams will be over or under a set line.
- Example: If the total is set at 40.5 points, betting the “over” means you predict both teams will combine for 41 points or more. Betting the “under” means you expect fewer than 40 points.
- First Try Scorer: A prop bet where you wager on which player will score the first try in the match. This is a popular option for those looking for higher payouts and a bit of a riskier bet.
- Winning Margin: Here, you predict by how many points the winning team will triumph. You can typically choose between ranges like 1-12 points or 13+ points.
- Futures: Bet on long-term outcomes, such as which team will win the NRL Grand Final, which player will be the top try scorer, or which team will finish the season on top of the ladder.
