Jake Paul (+650) vs Anthony Joshua (-1200)

  • Date: December 19th, 2025; 17:00 ET
  • Venue: Kaseya Center. Miami, Florida, USA
  • Where to Watch: Netflix

The boxing betting action doesn’t stop! We have a big bout on December 19th in Miami, which will unite Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua in the ring for 8 rounds (max).

Jake Paul’s bout against the WBA Lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis, in an exhibition fight, was cancelled due to Davis’ legal issues after he was hit with a civil lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade County by his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel.ย But don’t worry, Paul already has another rival.

Paul vs Joshua Betting Tips

  • Jake Paul qualifies as a Cruiserweight fighter (max 200 lbs), but he usually gets into the ring for catchweight bouts. This fight has an agreed Heavyweight limit of 245 lbs.
  • Anthony Joshua has been the World Unified Heavyweight champion twice. He currently competes professionally as a Heavyweight.
  • Joshua’s professional record includes 28 wins (with 25 by KO) and 4 losses. He also won the Olympic Gold Medal in London 2012 in the Super-Heavyweight division.
  • The boxing prop bets for this fight have Joshua to win by KO are at -400, and at +450 to win by decision.
  • Paul’s professional record is 12-1, with 7 wins by KO. The only fight he lost was against Tommy Fury in 2023. Jake Paul odds to win by KO are at +1200.
  • Joshua’s last fight was held against Daniel Dubois in September 2024, and he lost by KO. He lost his titles against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, but took them back in a rematch later that year. Oleksandr Usyk later beat him for all of his titles in 2021, and also defeated him in a rematch.
  • Most of Paul’s fights were against UFC and Boxing retired fighters, included Anderson Silva and Mike Tyson. His last fight was held this year against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (his first bout against an active boxing fighter) and he won.

Anderson Silva (-250) will also return to the ring against Tyron Woodley (+200) during this event, that will also include some title fights. Yokasta Valle will defend her WBC Strawweight title, while Alicia Baumgardner (Featherweight) and Cherneka Johnson (Bantamweight) will defend her undisputed titles too.

How to Read Boxing Odds

Before betting on boxing, learn how to read the boxing lines first.

You will come across two types of numbers: a negative number, (-150), and a positive (+125). These indicate how much you need to bet to win $100 and how much you win when betting $100, respectively.

Letโ€™s look at an example on the moneyline, which is the most common bet in boxing, where you bet on who you think wins the fight:

  • Saul Alvarez: -240
  • Terence Crawford: +185

This is a potential boxing match in which Alvarez is the favorite and Crawford is the underdog. Since we always expect the favorite to win, you need to wager $240 to win $100. Since the underdog is expected to lose, a $100 payout rewards $185 in profit.

If Alvarez wins this bout, the first bet is the winner.

Favorites tend to be pricier to wager but have a higher probability of winning, while underdogs can yield richer rewards at the cost of a lower chance of cashing. Keep this in mind when reading odds for a boxing match.

What Affects Boxing Odds?

Many factors can impact boxing fight odds, such as the boxersโ€™ physical stats, fighting styles, records, and current form e.g., how old they are, how good (or bad) they have looked, etc. Oddsmakers crunch many boxing stats and betting trends and come up with the boxing lines.

Intangible data, such as a boxerโ€™s mental state or public perception, may factor into these odds.

Can I Bet on Both Boxers?

You can bet on both boxers. But betting on round totals or over/under may be a better option. Instead of betting on a side, the sportsbook offers online betting for boxing, where the over/under can be as lucrative as a moneyline bet. Check out this example:

  • Over 10.5 Rounds: -350
  • Under 10.5 Rounds: +240

The odds for this match work the same as moneyline boxing bets. In this example, betting โ€˜Over 10.5 Roundsโ€™ requires a $350 stake to make a $100 profit. Betting โ€˜Under 10.5 Roundsโ€™ will reward $240 for a $100 wager.

The oddsmakers expect this bout to go over 10.5 rounds, meaning it will finish in Round 11 or Round 12 or go to a decision. But if this fight ends in Round 10 or earlier, the Under 10.5 at +240 is the winning bet.

If a boxing match comes to a decision, a panel of three judges will make a decision based on a scoreboard they have to fill during the fight. A boxer must win on at least two judgesโ€™ scorecards to be granted the victory.

Winning all three judges’ scorecards is a โ€œunanimous decision,โ€ while winning two but losing one is a โ€œsplit decisionโ€. A โ€œdrawโ€ is also possible if no boxer wins at least two scorecards.

It is possible to bet on what type of decision results from boxing betting.

The judges score boxing matches based on many criteria, but on a 10-point scale. The winning boxer typically scores a โ€˜10โ€™ while the losing boxer gets a โ€˜9โ€™ or fewer points.

A knockdown deducts a point from a boxer. This results when a boxer hits the ground from a punch, takes a knee, or receives a standing count by the referee.

If both boxers knock each other to the ground, then we may have a 9-9 round.

A 10-10 round is also plausible (though rare) if the judges deem both boxers to be completely even during the round.

What is a Technical Knockout (TKO) in Boxing?

A knockout (KO) or a technical knockout (TKO) is the opposite of a decision. This occurs when a boxer is unable to continue due to a legal blow to the head or body.

A KO is granted when the opponent is knocked unconscious. A TKO is granted when the referee stops the fight while the opponent is still conscious due to being unable to fight back.

KO/TKO props are available for boxing bets online and are a popular way to wager.

You can cash these bets if the boxer of choice scores a knockout or technical knockout.

Can I Bet on a Specific Round?

Alternatively, you can bet on a boxer to win in a specific round or for a fight to finish in a specific round. BetUS allows for both boxing betting outcomes, depending on what you want to wager.

A wager on Saul Alvarez to win in Round 10 will cash if he finishes his opponent, specifically in this round. The boxing fight odds here will be long.

But a bet on the bout to finish in Round 10 has more leeway, as either boxer can finish the fight specifically in Round 10. The odds here wonโ€™t be as long as the former but will still be hefty.

Boxing FAQs

Boxing weight divisions ensure a fairer fight by matching boxers of similar size and strength. Boxers compete in specific weight classes, with strict weight limits. This helps to prevent larger, heavier boxers from having an unfair advantage over smaller opponents.
Yes, BetUS offers boxing betting options on all major fights, allowing you to experience the thrill of each bout with a variety of wagers.
A knockout (KO) occurs when a boxer lands a legal punch that renders their opponent unable to continue fighting within ten seconds of rising from the canvas. The referee will stop the fight and declare the KO winner.
A technical knockout (TKO) happens when the referee stops the fight due to a boxer’s inability to continue safely. This can be caused by injury, fatigue, or the dominance of one boxer. The TKO winner is the boxer deemed to be in control at the time of the stoppage.
Boxing odds are calculated by sportsbooks based on factors like each boxer’s win-loss record, recent performance, fighting style, and opponent history. The odds represent the implied probability of each boxer winning, with lower odds indicating a favorite and higher odds indicating an underdog.
In boxing, the terms “match” and “bout” are often used interchangeably. They both refer to a professional or amateur boxing competition between two boxers.
A split decision occurs when two of the three judges score the fight for one boxer, while the remaining judge scores it for the other. This means there’s no clear winner based on the individual scorecards, and the boxer with the two winning scores is declared the victor.
A unanimous decision happens when all three judges score the fight for the same boxer. This indicates a clear winner based on the judges’ assessments of each round.
