This Week's Top MLB Games to Bet on

Season Heads Into Final Two Weeks

San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Analysis

Talk about a great matchup to head into the final week of the regular season. The San Francisco Giants visit the Los Angeles Dodgers with playoff implications at stake.

The Giants are trying to grab the final NL Wild-Card spot. The Dodgers are desperately trying to hold off the San Diego Padres to win the NL West.

The opener on Friday is a sweet pitching matchup as Logan Webb is scheduled to duel the great Clayton Kershaw. MLB odds will certainly favor the home team. Look at the under on the Giants vs Dodgers Run Line odds if this pitching matchup comes to fruition.

Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds Betting Analysis

The Reds are hanging in the NL Wild-Card race by a thread. They can help themselves at home over the weekend in a series with the Chicago Cubs. If one is going to bet on the MLB, look for this series to have plenty of offense.

The scheduled pitching matchups are expected to bring together a lot of pitchers with similar records and ERAs.

What’s the way to go here when checking MLB lines BetUS? Why just give the Cubs a whirl, as they are the better team overall and should put a major dent in the Reds’ postseason dreams.

San Diego Padres at New York Mets Betting Analysis

The Mets are in freefall. They have fallen apart, and a team that was once 45-24 is not scrambling to try and earn a wild-card spot. San Diego is locked into some kind of postseason spot, whether winning the NL West or a wild card.

This is a perfect spot when it comes to MLB odds to play the road team. Something has gone awry with the Mets and the Padres have a chance to put the final dagger in them. Go with the Padres vs Mets moneyline odds whenever and wherever one can.

New York Yankees at Minnesota Twins Betting Analysis

Somehow, the Yankees have found their way back toward the Blue Jays in the AL East. It could be because they take care of business against bad teams. And the Minnesota Twins are exactly that, a weak team.

The Yankees go to Minnesota for a mid-week series. They then have the Orioles over the weekend. This could be the perfect time to parlay the Yankees’ moneyline odds from game to game because neither opponent has anything to play for anymore.

Athletics at Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Analysis

One of the final chances to see Paul Skenes pitch for the Bucs in 2025 is slated for Sunday. He gets a great matchup, facing the Athletes at home. This is a game to watch because the Pirates are monitoring Skenes’ innings carefully here.

Don’t expect him to go more than five innings and that could set up a late rally by the Athletics to win the game. The Athletics vs Pirates moneyline odds figure to be tasty for the visitors.

They won’t get to Skenes. They could get to the bullpen. Expect the run line for Athletics-Pirates to be surpassed because the big righty won’t go deep.

How to Bet on MLB Odds

The typical ways to bet on MLB games are like most team sports. There is against the spread, where a team has to win by more runs than it is favored by or lose by less than it is the underdog.

There is the moneyline where you are betting on your team to win the game. Sounds simple, right? It isn’t because odds teeter and there is no guarantee an upset won’t happen. Then there is the total where you are betting whether a game will go over or under a certain number of runs. There are many MLB games every night – and sometimes during the day – so one can do their work and find the perfect spot to make a wager on the game of their choice.

MLB Moneyline Betting: Pick the outright winner, no spreads involved. Example: If the Yankees (-140) face the Red Sox (+120), betting $140 on the Yankees wins $100 if they win, while a $100 bet on the Red Sox returns $120 if they win.

MLB Spreads (Run Lines): MLB spreads are called Run Lines, typically set at ±1.5 runs. Example: If the Dodgers -1.5 beat the Mets by 2+ runs, the bet wins. If the Mets +1.5 lose by 1 run or win outright, the bet wins.

MLB Totals (Over/Under Bets): Bet on the combined total runs of a game. Example: If the total for Cubs vs. Phillies is 8.5, an Over bet wins if 9+ runs are scored, while an Under bet wins if 8 or fewer runs are scored.

MLB Player & Game Prop Bets: Bet on specific players or game events beyond just the final score. Examples:

  • Player Prop: If Aaron Judge’s total home runs line is set at 1.5, an Over bet wins if he hits 2 or more home runs, while an Under bet wins if he hits 1 or none.
  • Game Prop: If a bet is on “Will the Yankees score first?”, the wager wins if the Yankees score before their opponent.

First 5 Innings Lines (F5 Bets): Bet on the outcome of the game’s first five innings, focusing on starting pitchers and early scoring. Examples:

  • F5 Moneyline: If the Braves F5 Moneyline is -150 against the Cubs, the bet wins if the Braves are leading after five innings. If the score is tied or the Cubs are ahead, the bet loses.
  • F5 Run Line:  If the Yankees -0.5 (F5) are playing the Red Sox, the Yankees must be leading after five innings for the bet to win. If tied or lost, the bet loses.
  • F5 Over/Under:  If the F5 total for Dodgers vs. Phillies is 4.5, an Over bet wins if 5+ runs are scored in the first five innings, while an Under bet wins if 4 or fewer runs are scored.
