NBA 1st Half Odds & Lines - NBA Betting

What are NBA 1st Half Lines?

NBA 1st half lines are what they sound like: these are point spread, moneyline, or over/under (total) NBA betting lines for the first half of the game only.

You cash your bet after the first half or first two quarters are played by halftime! As such, we may need to approach these differently.

The first question to ask is how each team plays in the first half of games.

Looking up NBA stats and records against NBA odds is critical. For example, the Orlando Magic are one of the best teams.

But they start games slowly. Orlando has a net rating of +5.4, which ranks ninth. However, in the first half, Orlando is only -1.6, which is tied for 17th.

This is a betting opportunity for and against Orlando.

Read the NBA 1st half lines and bet against it if it’s saddled with wide NBA betting odds.

On the flip side, you can live bet Orlando if it falls behind in the first half because it finishes games strong. Orlando will be a key bet with the NBA’s 2nd half odds this time.

How Do NBA 1st Half Lines Differ From Full-Game Lines?

It can be argued that NBA 1st half lines are a bit simpler than full-game lines because we only deal with two quarters and 24 minutes versus four and 48, respectively. This is why these types of NBA odds have become popular over the years.

While this is true, NBA 1st half-line betting is just as complex as full-game betting. Oddsmakers have become shrewd in figuring out how teams can work. So finding “value” in teams can take work to do. And sometimes with enough research, you can beat the book and find the edge just as you’d do on NBA futures or most bets.

When Should I Bet on NBA 1st Half Lines?

You can bet on NBA 1st half lines before the game. When you bet it is up to you. Sometimes you can bet it when it releases so you can get early line value – this is before the public starts betting and moving the line. But sometimes waiting a bit longer, especially if you are against the public, is better. There are also injuries to analyze as they impact the lines.
