US Open Tennis Odds: Is Swiatek or Sabalenka the Smart Bet?

One does not have to be an ace at women’s tennis to get a return on their investment in the US Open. The US Open women’s tennis side of the draw is that wide open. This final Grand Slam is the perfect opportunity to find the best odds to win the US Open women’s tennis and capitalize on the top plays of the 2025 season.

Why can one expect to thrive if they aren’t a tennis expert? The reasoning is that the women’s US odds are a veritable bettors’ buffet of choices. Yes, Iga Swiatek comes in at +300, but don’t go overboard because of her win at Wimbledon. Firstly, she was playing Amanda Anisimova of the USA, who was a surprise finalist. That takes some of the luster off the double-bagel demolition of her opponent on the grass courts in England.

Additionally, Swiatek has one US Open championship, and that was in 2022. She’s definitely formidable, but her past performances make her far from a lock in Flushing Meadows in the odds to win the US Open Women’s tennis.

Sabalenka a Lukewarm Favorite

If one wants to bet on the favorite in the US Open women’s odds, that would be defending champion Aryna Sabalenka. In 2024, she defeated Jessica Pegula of the USA in straight sets to capture the final Grand Slam of that year. However, she lost to Anisimova in a stunner at Wimbledon and then pulled out of the Montreal Open, which starts July 27, citing “fatigue.”

Tennis odds are difficult enough to decipher in the women’s division of the US Open. Then one adds in that Sabalenka, the +250 favorite at BetUS Sportsbook in US Open tennis odds, is tired less than a month before the event starts? Let the bettor beware. Remember, this is a grueling event that sees the champion win seven events over two weeks. A player could have to be on the court at 11 a.m. one day and then in a night match in the next round. It is not rare for evening matches to go beyond midnight.

Wagering on someone who is fatigued heading into this gauntlet run would be cause for pause for anyone. Sure, Sabalenka is the defending champ, but she is not heading to New York with her mind and body in a good space. She is the choice in women’s US Open odds, but it doesn’t mean she is going to win.

Best Long Shots in the Women’s US Open Odds

Who’s the Best US Open Women’s Tennis Bet Beyond the Top Two?

WTA odds will see upsets happen with regularity in tournaments, especially the big ones. At Wimbledon, seeded players fell early and often. That helped open the road for Anisimova to the final. However, her past play on hard courts and overall lack of being a strong challenger in recent history have her at +1400 in the women’s US Open odds. Remember, she could more likely go out in one of the early rounds and advance to the second week.

Jessica Pegula made it to the final last year before losing to Sabalenka. She’s always floating around the late first week and into the second week of these big events. However, she has yet to win one. In fact, Pegular, whose family owns the Buffalo Bills, could be a great mythical prop bet on whether she will win a major before the NFL team wins a Super Bowl. It doesn’t look like it will happen in the US Open, and that is why her odds to win the US Open women’s singles are +2200.

Naomi Osaka is also listed at +2200 on the BetUS board. She has won this tournament twice, but the last time was in 2020. Osaka has been in and out on the tour and has yet to display the form that made her a four-time champion in majors. However, she can’t be totally discounted because her Grand Slam wins came at the Aussie Open (twice) as well as the US Open (twice). The surface suits her.

One other US player who will receive plenty of support from the crowd is Coco Gauff. She is beloved and charming. One curious choice that just happened saw Gauff left out of the USA team for the Billie Jean King Cup later this year. If the World’s No. 2 isn’t good enough to represent her country there for any reason, one has to be concerned about her ability to navigate the US Open women’s odds and overall tournament draw.

Is There Another Woman Worth a Bet in the US Open Odds?

She is only 18, but Mirra Andreeva appears to have the talent to eventually win a major. Whether it is now is the concern. She is listed at +700 in the US Open women’s odds, which means sharp eyes believe she is a player quickly improving. Still, that is a short number for a player who has not done what it takes to win a tournament like this yet.

Elena Rybakina is playing better tennis. The 2022 Wimbledon champ is 11th in the WTA rankings and poised to move higher thanks to strong play of late. She is +2200 if one wants to bet on the US Open tennis.

The overarching belief is that the women’s draw is wide open and bettors should approach it as such. Research how the players have been doing in the hard-court events leading to the final Grand Slam of the year.

Then, look for value when it comes to moneyline bets on matches as well as props such as who will be the first to serve an ace, who will be broken first, and other such plays. There are bets on games won—how many will the person win or lose overall, like a spread in football—and decisions on how many sets a match will go. Remember, this generation of players is far from dominant, and winning the first set does not guarantee advancing in two sets. In fact, there is every chance the opponent will rally in the second and force a decisive third set.
