Big Ten, SEC Dominate Market

SEC Teams Receive Major Consideration

The SEC is arguably one of the two biggest power conferences in college football. SEC brass likes to think of itself as the one. College football playoff odds to determine the 2026-27 winner do not have SEC teams atop the list, but they receive serious notice.

Texas was the preseason No. 1 in 2025-26 but failed to live up to the billing. Arch Manning is back, and that has college football championship odds with the Longhorns at +700. There will be an early test of college football futures powers when Ohio State comes to Austin in September. The overall schedule is favorable, with the toughest road stretch back-to-back games at Missouri and LSU. Then there is the regular-season closer at Texas A&M.

The Georgia Bulldogs are listed at +900 in college football odds today. The Dawgs always are a presence on the college football scene and find their way into the CFP with many powerful wins. Another team with a schedule that plays to its strengths with home games against Oklahoma, Vandy, and Auburn. The stiff road tests will be at Alabama in October and at Ole Miss in November.

Other SEC teams of note are LSU at +1200, Alabama +1400, Texas A&M +1600, and Oklahoma +3000

Big Ten’s Big Two Lead Futures

Ohio State and Indiana were the two of the top teams in college football 2025-26. The Buckeyes went out early in the CFP, losing to Miami. Indiana ran the table, becoming the first college football team to go 16-0 since Yale in 1894. The Buckeyes are +600 in college football betting odds to win the national championship. Indiana is right behind at +700.

The Hoosiers, as they usually do, open with three soft opponents. They get Ohio State in Bloomington in October. The tests, if one wants to call them that, are at Michigan, Nebraska, and Washington. Going undefeated again will be daunting, but college football betting lines will see Indiana favored in most, if not all, games.

The Buckeyes won’t have it easy, so before one jumps on them in college football lines today to win the national championship, remember they will play at Texas, Indiana, Iowa, and USC. Plenty of chances to slip up.

Oregon is another team to consider with Dante Moore back at QB. The Ducks are +800. USC and Michigan are both +3500.It is early to think about awards, but expect Julian Sayin of Ohio State and Moore to play heavily in early Heisman Trophy odds when they pop.

Other Schools Worth Eyeballing

Notre Dame managed to assure itself of a CFP slot if it finishes in the top 12. Amazing what a tantrum will do. The Fighting Irish have a soft schedule and are +700 in college football playoff odds. The question is how they will handle when facing playoff teams, should they get there, which can be expected to happen. Texas Tech is listed at +1400. Texas A&M is +1600. Those schools also should continue to be factors in this NIL and pay-for-play world of college football.
