Some familiar names are leading the way in our NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds. Former winners Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers, T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns are among the top candidates. Check out our sports betting promotions as the NFL season gets closer.
Not all positions are the same when it comes to winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year honor. Defensive ends or outside linebackers had won 10 of the previous 13 awards before Denver cornerback Patrick Surtain II won the award in 2024.

A Look at the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Odds
Myles Garrett Eyeing an Encore
Myles Garrett won multiple NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2023. Garrett’s frustration after yet another losing season in Cleveland led to him requesting a trade; however, he has since had a change of heart and is still with the Browns.
Garrett had his fourth consecutive season with at least 14 sacks to go with a career-high 22 tackles for loss. However, the Cleveland Browns‘ 3-14 record was one of the reasons why he came up short in his bid to join Aaron Donald and J.J. Watt as recent back-to-back NFL Defensive Player of the Year winners.
Garrett is priced at +650 to win the Defensive Player of the Year award for the second time in the last three seasons.
Micah Parsons Is a Solid Option
Despite having 12 sacks in 13 games, Micah Parsons finished outside of the top 10 in the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds. He probably would have finished higher in the voting had he not missed four games.
Parsons had finished either second or third in the award’s voting in his first three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
There will be plenty of action on the +675 odds for Parsons to win the award for the first time.
Keep an Eye on Aidan Hutchinson and T.J. Watt
Only nine players have been named the winner of The Associated Press’ NFL Defensive Player of the Year more than once. T.J. Watt is priced at +850 to join that list. If he comes through, he’ll have pretty good company, as his older brother J.J. won the award in 2014 and 2015.
Watt finished fourth in the 2024 voting, even if his sack total went from 19 to 11.5 for the Steelers. It is always smart to check on Watt’s defensive player of the year odds.
Aidan Hutchinson, who was limited to five games in 2024 with the Detroit Lions, is also at +850 in the Defensive Player of the Year odds. He is somebody to watch in the Comeback Player of the Year race as well when looking at the NFL awards odds.
Hutchinson’s return is one of the reasons why the Lions are in the top 10 in our Super Bowl odds.
Best of the Rest
Will Anderson Jr. of the Houston Texans (+1200) could be somebody to watch after recording 11 sacks in 14 games in 2024.
Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco’s Nick Bosa are both at +1600 in the Defensive Player of the Year odds.
Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles leads the way at +1800 among interior defensive linemen. When looking at the defensive backs, Patrick Surtain (+3000), Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean of the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles join Baltimore safety Kyle Hamilton and New England’s Christian Gonzalez in a group at +5000.
Keep an eye on the odds of Cincinnati’s Trey Hendrickson, currently at +2000. His contract stalemate could result in Hendrickson playing elsewhere sooner rather than later.
Jacksonville’s Travis Hunter (+15000) has the shortest Defensive Player of the Year odds among the rookies.
