Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers Odds

What the Market Expects

MLB odds expect a low-scoring game on Tuesday when the Chicago Cubs face the Milwaukee Brewers. The NL Central-leading Brewers should be able to open another length on their rivals, as MLB odds at BetUS suggest, with the Cubs at +174 on the moneyline and Milwaukee at a hefty -200.

The total is dicey. It is set at 7½ if you bet on the MLB at BetUS. And that’s because this game tilts in favor of Milwaukee’s ace, Jacob Misiorowski, who goes against Chicago’s David Peterson.

The moneyline and runline tell you this game could be one-sided. That’s because Misorowski doesn’t give up many runs, strikes out a ton of batters, and is basically unhittable.

The problem is that Peterson can get hammered. He has been easy to solve this year, especially when with the Mets.

What the Team Totals Reveal

Milwaukee leads the season series 8-4, after winning on Labor Day. The Cubs’ inconsistency has simply robbed them of any chance to catch the Brewers in the division. So, when looking at the MLB odds total, expect Milwaukee to continue its dominance and provide most of the offense.

Misiorowski is 14-5 with a 1.97 ERA. However, in his most recent start at Wrigley Field, he was touched for five runs in four innings. If the Cubs can duplicate that, this game could see plenty of runs. That’s a huge if.

Peterson is 7-8 with a 5.39 ERA. That means Milwaukee will be able to get to the total almost on its own if the lefty continues to struggle. On Sept. 2, he lasted 3.2 innings and gave up six runs to these Brewers when facing Misiorowski.

Reading the Total

The total is low compared to MLB norms, which usually are 7 to 10. That is because no one thinks Misiorowski will be hit again.

Chances are he will go more than five innings when facing the Cubs on Tuesday. He’s one of the best – if not the best – in the game. Not to be cruel, but Peterson is one of the worst. It was impossible to believe the Cubs took a chance on him after he stunk it up for the Mets.

Look at this one as a repeat from Sept. 2, with Milwaukee thriving and basically the MLB odds of Milwaukee -200 are a tough number to ignore.

Pick

The favorite pick on the moneyline is because the Brewers have the Cubs’ number. And the over, which might seem surprising, is because Peterson is as vulnerable as any starting pitcher in MLB.

  • Pick: Milwaukee -200, Over 7½.
