NFL Odds and Betting Lines

Betting On the NFL

Betting on NFL odds means wagering on the sportsbook’s numerical assessment of how likely each game outcome is. Those numbers usually appear in three common formats:

  • Point spread: The favorite is “spotted” negative points (e.g., –6.5) and must win by more than that margin for its backers to cash; the underdog gets the same points added to its final score.
  • Moneyline: Expressed with a plus (+) for underdogs and a minus (–) for favorites (e.g., +200 or –150). The figures indicate how much you win on a $100 bet (+) or how much you must stake to win $100 (–).
  • Totals (Over/Under): The sportsbook sets a combined points line; you wager on whether the two teams will score over or under that number.

Ever since sportsbooks moved online, NFL wagering has exploded. Now, a couple of taps in an app or clicks on a website let you place a bet in seconds, intensifying the thrill of rooting for your favorite team.

Here’s a quick guide on how to get started at BetUS

After logging into your BetUS Sportsbook account, you will see your virtual bet slip. Next, navigate to or search for your favorite team or game, whether it’s the New York Giants or another team. Find the line you want to wager on and select it to add it to your bet slip.

Enter the bet amount and submit your single-game wager. To create a parlay, if-bet, teaser, round-robin, or other exotic bet types, add more wagers to your bet slip to unlock advanced betting services.

You can find props, half-time lines, and such by selecting the MARKETS option for the game in question.

By staying informed, betting responsibly, and choosing the right strategies, you can enhance your NFL regular season betting experience and increase your chances to call the right plays and potentially winning and avoiding losses.

Other Types of NFL Odds

NFL Futures

NFL futures odds offer a unique way to predict the outcome of the entire season, allowing you to place season-long bets on a variety of markets.

At BetUS, you can explore a range of options, from predicting divisional champions and conference winners to estimating win totals and betting on which teams will make or miss the playoffs.

Whether you’re looking at the AFC East, the NFC West, or broader conference outcomes, NFL futures odds provide the widest array of betting options.

Player Props & Awards Odds

BetUS also offers the option of betting on the performances of your favorite players including most INTs, most passing yards, most receiving yards, most TDs, and much more.

Other top betting markets include MVP, Coach of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and even which coach will be fired first.

Most Popular NFL Bet Types Explained

NFL Point Spreads (Spread)

This ubiquitous format handicaps the perceived favorite team by assigning it a point value (usually between 3 and 14 points). If you bet on the favorite to “cover the spread,” they must win by more than the designated margin.

On the other hand, if you bet on the underdog, they have to either win the game or lose by fewer points than the spread.

When people talk about NFL odds, it’s the betting spread that dominates the conversation.

NFL Moneylines (ML)

This straightforward format simply presents the odds on each team winning the game outright.

A negative number indicates the favorite (e.g., -200), while a positive number signifies the underdog (e.g., +180).

The higher the absolute value (positive or negative), the less likely the outcome.

NFL Totals (Over/Under)

This format focuses on the combined score of both teams. Bettors can wager on whether the total points scored will be “over” or “under” a predetermined number set by the sportsbook.

In addition to these standard bets, prop bets offer unique opportunities. These can include predicting individual player performances, such as the number of touchdowns scored by a star player, or specific game events, like the score at halftime.

Each type of bet comes with its own set of NFL odds, providing various ways to engage with the game. Remember to choose BetUS Sportsbook whenever you decide to bet the latest NFL lines.

NFL Betting FAQs

Typically, these come in three formats: moneyline, point spread, and over/under. Moneyline odds show how much you’d win on a $100 bet for the underdog (positive number) or how much you need to bet to win $100 on the favorite (negative number). Point spreads show the margin a team needs to win or lose by. Over/under bets are on the total combined score of both teams.

The NFL draft takes place every spring. Each year the dates differ. The first round takes place on Thursday, rounds 2-3 on Friday, and rounds 4-7 on Saturday.

Right now, no single team has separated from the pack; the Bills, Eagles, and Ravens share the shortest odds, with the Chiefs and Lions close behind. Expect lines to continue shifting as training-camp injuries, roster cuts, and early-season results unfold.

NFL Super Bowl odds represent the chances each team has of winning the championship. Keep an eye on the odds to make informed bets on which teams are likely to go all the way and win the Lombardi Trophy.

To bet on the NFL, select a betting market like point spreads, moneylines, or NFL props, and place your wager. There are numerous betting options available, ranging from regular season matchups to the Super Bowl, allowing you to explore different strategies.

The decision to place a bet over or under on NFL games relies on the analysis of the matchup and the game as a whole. The over and under is based on the combined points scored by the two teams. Look at the strengths and weaknesses of the teams participating in the game to make a determination whether there will be more points scored or defense played.

NFL lines are typically released early in the week, often by Tuesday, for upcoming games. These lines can fluctuate based on injuries, team performance, and betting trends, so it’s important to stay updated for the best odds.
