South Korea KBL

Overview

The South Korea KBL, or Korean Basketball League, is the men’s professional basketball league in South Korea, evidently. The Korean Basketball League was established in 1997, and falls under the FIBA Asia confederation. The league consists of 10 teams that compete from October to April each year for the championship title.

Each team plays 54 games per season, and is primarily made up of Korean players, teams are only eligible to have two international players per team.

Current Korean Basketball League teams:

  • Anyang KGC
  • Changwon LG Sakers
  • Daegu KOGAS Pegasus
  • Goyang Orion Orions
  • Jeonju KCC Egis
  • Seoul Samsung Thunders
  • Seoul SK Knights
  • Suwon KT Sonicboom
  • Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus
  • Wonju DB Promy

Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus is the most successful Korean Basketball League team, with seven titles total. The most recent champions are the Anyang KGC, who picked up their third title in the 2020-2021 season.

While Korean basketball is often overlooked over here in North America, you may have not even know there was a league at all. But that doesn’t mean you can’t bet on international basketball! Sometimes it can be exciting to bet on something new, whether that be a new basketball league or even an international league that you aren’t overly familiar with, you could find a new passion sport to bet on.

If North American basketball has become drab, you can always broaden your horizons outside of the NBA or NCAAB. You may not find the huge selection of bets that you would find on those leagues, but you can find a decent amount of wagers on the Korean Basketball League, including the following wager types we will discuss now.

How To Bet on South Korea KBL

To start off, we have moneyline bets, which allow you to bet on the winner of the game outright. It’s one of the most simple wagers – you simply choose which team you think will win the game. These moneyline bets are available for every Korean Basketball League game, and you can bet on one team or the other. The negative odds will reflect the favored team, meaning they are more likely to win, and the lower that number gets into the negative, the more likely they are to win. The underdog is represented by a positive number, which works conversely, the bet is riskier, and the higher that number is, the more you would win, but the more unlikely the outcome is.

Point spreads in the Korean Basketball League allows the underdog team a few points before the game even begins. Basically the favored team starts with a slight handicap, which means that the team has to win by more than that number in order for your bet to cash. If you choose the underdog, the team can lose by less than that number of points, or win the game and your bet will win.

Totals betting is a fun way to bet on these games without having to predict which team will win or how closely matched the teams actually are. You can place your wager on how many points both teams will score collectively. We will release a totals line on the Korean Basketball League games, and you will decide if you think the total number of points will be over or under our line.

While you won’t find a huge selection of props like you would on North American basketball, you can find a select few options on certain games. You can bet on player props, team props and even game props if the lines are available. These will likely be more plentiful during the playoffs and championships.

Futures betting allows you to bet on the winner of the Korean Basketball League in advance of any actual competition. You can find the betting odds listed when the season starts, and you can pick your winner early – this will make your bet extra risky as you have 1/10 chance of being right.

Now that you have a primer and are ready to start placing your Korean Basketball League wagers, you can head over to the sportsbook tab – not many online sportsbooks offer international basketball odds, making BetUS the best place to wager on sports.
