Euroleague Basketball

Overview

The highest level of professional basketball in Europe is the Euroleague. The professional basketball competition is unique, as it is surprisingly not associated or run by the FIBA Europe confederation. The basketball Euroleague has a rich history, being founded in 1958, and became a separate entity from FIBA in the year 2000.

The split from FIBA didn’t hurt the league, as it’s the second most popular professional basketball league in the world, the NBA being first. The competition hosts 18 teams each year, who then play a double round robin, playing each team in the competition twice for a total of 34 games. The next round consists of eight teams who are seeded into their best of five series. Once the top four teams emerge, there is a final four, where you will have those teams play for bronze, and the top two for gold.

Current Euroleague Basketball teams include:

  • ALBA Berlin (Germany)
  • Anadolu Efes (Turkey)
  • AIX Armani Exchange Milan (Italy)
  • Barcelona (Spain)
  • Bitci Baskonia (Spain)
  • Bayern Munich (Germany)
  • Crvena zvezda mts (Serbia)
  • CSKA Moscow (Russia)
  • Fenerbahce Beko (Turkey)
  • LDLC ASVEL (France)
  • Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel)
  • AS Monaco (France)
  • Olympiacos (Greece)
  • Panathinaikos OPAP (Greece)
  • Real Madrid (Spain)
  • UNICS (Russia)
  • Zalgiris (Lithuania)
  • Zenit Saint Petersburg (Russia)

Real Madrid owns the record for most Euroleague basketball titles with 10, followed by the Russian CSKA Moscow team with eight. The reigning Turkish champions, the Anadolu Efes, won the second Turkish award, and their club’s first in 2021.

How To Bet On Euroleague Basketball Odds

If you’re planning to bet on the Euroleague basketball odds, you will want to understand how the betting options work so you can make better betting decisions. You will find a great selection of betting options on this popular European basketball league, so let’s check out the betting options available.

Moneyline wagers allow you to bet on who will win the game outright. That’s all you have to do – pick the winning team. Each team will have Euroleague betting odds associated with how likely they are to win the game.

Point spreads allow you to bet on the underdog without a huge risk if they still lose. The oddsmakers will set the line, and that underdog team can either lose by less than that number, or win the game. The favored team on the other hand, will have to win the game by more than that number.

Totals betting allows you to bet on the combined score of both teams added together. What you will do is check out the line that the oddsmakers set. There will be a number, usually a high one in basketball, that allows you to choose if you think the total number of points by both teams will be over or under that set line.

Prop betting will be a little more plentiful in the Euroleague than other international basketball leagues. You will find a selection of game props, which are outcomes that might occur during the game that have nothing to do with the final outcome or score. Next you’ll have player props which allow you to bet on something a particular player might do during a game. Then you will have team props, which will be things that teams do during the game.

Futures betting allows you to bet on the outcome of the tournament – the champions – months in advance of the actual title being announced. You can choose which team will win the title at any point throughout the season, and as the odds of that team start to improve, you will see those odds start to lose value, so lock them in early.

If you think you’re ready to start betting on the Euroleague basketball odds, head over to the sportsbook and start betting now!
