Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders Betting Odds and Lines

Overview

Is it still too soon to start rolling out the “Eagles Are Going To The Super Bowl” banners? We’re asking for a friend. In all seriousness, how about these Eagles? What started as a late playoff berth last year, is now a full-on new look Philadelphia Eagles era, led by coach Nick Sirianni.

The Eagles will be looking to move on to 3-0 when they pay a visit to one of their NFC East rivals, the Washington Commanders.

While for some, believing all the hype surrounding Philadelphia is a matter of caution, for others, the Eagles are looking like the best football team in the land.

As Philadelphia gets ready to play against what could be seen as the best defense in its division, will the Eagles fly or will the Commanders bring them to Earth?

Philadelphia, City of Brotherly Love and Great Football

The Eagles are balling. There’s no better way to put it. After an offseason that saw them make some good moves to improve their roster, Philadelphia hit the ground running and has no intentions of stopping.

Led by QB Jalen Hurts, who is playing as smooth as Cheese Whiz on a Philly cheesesteak, the Eagles have gone from being a run-friendly offense to an all-around scoring-friendly unit.

After 62 points in their first two games, the Eagles put the NFC on notice. Philadelphia is done with playing games and is ready to once again cause a major splash.

In their first game, the Lions put Philadelphia’s defense through the wringer, scoring 35 points. In Week 2, in their MNF win against the Vikings, the Eagles showed that they can play some good defense too, they just needed time to adjust.

Against a team like the Commanders, who are all in on using their WR duo of Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson as their main offensive weapons, Philadelphia’s secondary will have to play at the same level as against Minnesota.

Philly’s secondary, led by Darius Slay with 2 interceptions, erased Justin Jefferson. If the Eagles can do that against McLaurin and Dotson, the road to a ‘W’ will be as clear as day.

Will Carson Wentz Get His Revenge Against the Eagles?

There was once a time in the league when Carson Wentz, now QB with the Commanders, used to be the talk of the town in Philadelphia.

Wentz stormed into the league with the Eagles and put up some stellar numbers in his second year that helped Philadelphia make its way to Super Bowl LII and win. Sure, in the end, it was Nick Foles who was the hero for the Eagles, but none of that would’ve happened without Wentz.

Now, as the starting QB for Washington, a win for Wentz against his first team in the pros would make for quite a story of closure. After leading the team to a Week 1 win against the Jaguars and losing in Week 2 against the Lions, a win here for Wentz could be a starting point in their season.

Washington’s main power comes through its defense. But against Philadelphia’s offense, especially its O-line, the Commanders will have their hands full trying to stop Hurts from putting points up on the board.

Washington will need Wentz to play smart football, knowing exactly when and where to strike down the field. And on defense? It’s a toss-up between either focusing on Philadelphia’s running or passing game.

If the Commanders can stop Philly up front and not allow Hurts to move around as much in the pocket, they could do some definite damage. If they don’t. well, just hand the win over to the Eagles and be done with it.

Eagles or Commanders In The Nation’s Capital, Who’s Winning?

This game has upset alerts all over. If there’s a team that can bring the fight on defense to Philadelphia, it’s Washington. But the Eagles have been playing some good and strong football, which leads to the question: Are these Eagles for real or just a bust waiting to happen?

For now, fly with the Eagles, expecting a physical game from Washington along the way.
